Yesterday I had the pleasure of photographing sweet Mr. D’s newborn photos in his lovely home. Mr. D was such a good little sleeper for his session. As a result, this allowed me to pose him in lots of fun props and such. We even ventured outside for a few photos. Finally, I can’t forget to mention how great his big sister did in all the sibling shots. We were even able to achieve a sibling shot with eye contact from him. That is a big success in my books.
One question I am asked a lot by clients is, “Don’t you have a photo studio and wouldn’t that be better for a newborn session? And what exactly does it mean when you say you are an in home newborn photographer?”. Today I wanted to quickly chat about that and elaborate on it a bit.
I am an in home newborn photographer. This allows me the opportunity to travel to my clients and photograph their sweet baby in his/her own home. Photographing newborns in their own homes is very beneficial for a few reasons. First of all, mom is way more relaxed because she doesn’t have to pack or worry about bringing items to a studio. Therefore, mom is comfortable knowing she has everything she could need at her disposal. Second, being in their own environment babies are more relaxed and almost always tend to sleep better. And last because I am in their homes, I am often able to use items that are special or have meaning to the family. As a result, my images are much more meaningful and unique.
