Alright, I know it’s been a bit quiet around here, but I’m back now after a nice long weekend break. This past weekend, I tackled a big project from my to do list, my hallway makeover project. I have been wanting to get this done for what seems like ages, or at least since we moved in. š You see, this hallway is the main hallway in our upstairs which leads to all the bedrooms and baths. I guess that’s probably why it got put off so long, because no one but us, really sees it.
Let’s dive right into the makeover, shall we. The hallway before was dark and dreary, painted in a tanish yellow with this gross dark vanilla trim all in flat paint, yes, flat paint! Can you believe that? Any of you with small children know what a disaster flat paint is with tiny hand prints. I hadn’t even bothered to hang up anything since I knew I wanted to make some big changes.
The first thing I did, was paint, paint, paint! I painted the walls repose gray (see link below) and then the trim got painted a bright white. I should mention the walls are painted in aĀ satin finish and the trimĀ in semi gloss. Bye, bye flat paint! After all that painting was complete, and yes it took forever with 5 doors and trim…ugh, I moved on to decorating, also know as, the fun part!
I channeled my inner Joanna Gaines and went shopping to pick out lots of fun goodies. I ordered photo prints for the walls and even made a cool photo craft project of sorts. (See link below) I also made a cool cover for some unsightly switches on the wall. I simply took a canvasĀ put a hinge on it and mounted the other part of the hinge to the wall. Now, we don’t have to see the switches but can still access them when needed.
All in all, I am thrilled with how it all came together. I like to think Joanna would give itĀ a big thumbs up too! What do you think?
